A little bit about your teacher...
Dr. Jimenez
First, the last name. It's hard to pronounce unless you know Spanish. Phonetically it is "Hee-MAY-nayz." But, parents, please call me Cori. Students, you'll get the hand of "Jimenez" soon enough.
I am a Northerner by birth, growing up mainly in Western New York. However, I have been living in Columbia for 20+ years. I came to South Carolina to attend USC (Go Cocks!) for my first graduate degree, after receiving a Bachelor's Degree in English from Binghamton University. I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and started teaching in Sumter, SC. I've since earned another Master of Education degree and, most recently, a Doctor of Philosophy degree. I am in my 21st year of being an educator! I have worked at other Richland 2 schools...Conder, Bethel Hanberry, Center for Knowledge, Langford and even in the district office, but I am most excited to be part of the Jackson Creek family.
When not with my daytime "kids" (and yes, I will claim them as my own for this year and always), I am at home with my wonderful husband of 23 years, Fernando, and my fantastically brilliant and sweet son, Alex. We may be playing with the menagerie of pets...Daisy, the best dog ever; Luna, the fluffy kitty; Sol, the persnickety cat; or Lucky, the tame snake. I may also be reading any number of books on all different topics, finding a place to scuba dive (I just became certified and I am addicted!), binge watching Netflix (bad me!), or baking up a new recipe for anything sweet.
