Math
We continue the multiplication work from fourth grade, and start longer division. We also delve heavily into fractions (what they represent in a variety of contexts, and how to add, subtract, multiply and divide). The most important part of math is seeing it in real world situations, and knowing which operation is appropriate. To help with that, we will incorporate realistic problems into the math we learn daily.

Social Studies
Fourth grade taught the students about the beginning of the USA. In fifth grade, we continue the journey starting at Reconstruction moving to the modern day. While we review the history, we are, more importantly, learning life lessons on humanity, respect, and responsibility.
